It's time they started working in your favour.

Google just rolled out another broad core algorithm update from June 3 (which was pre-announced by Google’s Danny Sullivan.) And once again, the core ranking update was big. It wasn’t long before you could see significant impact from the update across sites, categories, and countries – so we are not alone here in South Africa. Some sites surged, while others dropped off a cliff.

According to RankRanger – “In terms of niches that have seen big effects from the update so far, gambling, finance and health have all been hit quite hard.”

    What we know so far

With updates there is never one smoking gun for sites negatively impacted. Instead, there’s typically a battery of smoking guns and as we identify these, we will fix them improve them and make it work. But for now - It’s tough love for SEO.

Focusing on content is key – Let us help you!

We have seen sites hammered because of this and how to sort out. Point in case.

We recommend that you allow us to create content or to give your old content a great scrub by either, scrapping, re-writing and updating it to get you back on top.

    How do we fix this?

    1. It all starts with a proper content strategy
    2. Who is your audience?
    3. What do they get from you as a business
    4. What drives them
    5. What are their interests
    6. Where are they currently having conversations
    7. Longer content between 1200 and 2000 words per article – with references and research
    8. Using LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) keywords strongly related to your post
    9. Topics to have different facets and angles – so combinations will work
    10. We will create ultimate guides

    What to expect

Sources and Credibility – It is essential that sources and citations are extremely important for some people. We know that some people say that if they see Wikipedia as a source, they immediately become skeptical.

Publish Dates– Ensure that dates are updated when reviewed and changed Original dates and updated dates should be kept.

Social Proof– When one sees lot of comments, then that means it must be a popular website. However, because of the onslaught of spam, the time involved in moderating comments remains important.

Author Expertise – Background of the writers.

Citing Sources– Several participants of an SEO research explained that just a link to a source, adding stats and facts backing up claims added authenticity to an article.
